John Atakpa is a sustainability and infrastructure strategist with over fourteen years of experience spanning the engineering, oil & gas, and energy systems sectors. He has built his career at the intersection of technical execution, environmental performance, and organisational transformation, helping businesses and governments embed sustainability principles into the design and delivery of large-scale projects.
John has led sustainability and compliance operations at Canon Europe, aligning the company’s European business services with global net-zero and ESG targets. Earlier, he spent several years in engineering and project management leadership within the oil & gas industry, delivering high-value operations and geothermal projects across Sub-Saharan Africa. His current experience extends into renewable infrastructure development, overseeing energy transition and carbon mitigation initiatives designed to future-proof climate-resilient asset portfolios.
A University of Cambridge alumnus, John is also a Project Management Professional (PMP®) and PROSCI® Change Management Practitioner. His unique blend of engineering depth, sustainability acumen, and organisational-change insight defines his cross-disciplinary leadership style.
