Prof. Peter Ngene

Peter Ngene is a seasoned academician with 20 years of experience and an impressive track record in education and R&D  (research and development) in energy storage and environmental sustainability. He is currently an associate professor at the Debye Institute for Nanomaterials Science, Utrecht University in the Netherlands and a visiting professor at the African University of Technology (AUST), Abuja in Nigeria. He is a NEF (Next Einstein Forum) fellow and a recipient of the prestigious Nigerian NLG (NLNG) prize for science (2018) for his work on innovative energy storage solutions.

Before his current role, He was a postdoctoral fellow at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, where he developed innovative sensors for hydrogen detection and environmental monitoring. He has also previously worked as a process engineer at Dangote Sugar Refinery, Lagos, Nigeria. 

A lifelong learner and educator, Prof. Ngene has a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO),  a dual master’s degree in Micro-and Nano systems Engineering from ESIEE Paris (France ) and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. He obtained a PhD in Chemical Science at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. He has authored more than 75 research papers.
